What fits in a same-day call

Most same-day jobs fall into a handful of buckets: a single piece of furniture that's too heavy to move alone, a garage that got "temporary" storage for two years, an apartment turnover with a deadline, or a couch and mattress combo after somebody upgraded. What makes a same-day job harder

Three things slow a same-day call down more than anything else. First, no clear path: third-floor apartments with no elevator, or a gated complex where we need a code to even get to your door, both add real time to a job we quoted assuming curb or ground-floor access. Second, volume that's bigger than described: "just a couch" that turns out to be a couch, two mattresses, and a full closet clear-out means we may need to adjust the truck-fill estimate on-site. Third, timing collisions: if three other households call at 11:45am for the same afternoon, the first call wins the slot. That's not a sales tactic, it's just math on truck capacity.

How long it takes

A single item or two runs 15 to 30 minutes on-site. A quarter or half truck load, like a cleared bedroom or a garage third, usually takes our two-person crew 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on stairs and distance to the truck. A full truck, like a packed garage or a whole flooded room's contents, can run two to three hours. We tell you the estimate up front so you're not guessing whether to plan your afternoon around it.

One limit worth knowing

We don't haul hazardous materials: paint cans, chemicals, propane tanks, or anything that reads as asbestos (old floor tile, certain ceiling texture, pipe wrap in pre-1980s Old Town and North End homes). If you're not sure whether something falls in that bucket, ask when you call. We'd rather tell you no over the phone than show up and have to turn a job away.
